An EVO Story: The Dark Tide

Titan sends a UE fleet to renagade space to start killing as many Renagades as possible.

Message to Deadules: Are you still working for the the UE?

And Titans fleet is then blasted away by the Renegades superior technology.

Next time, Titan, be more detailed in your attacks.

Then, Carnotaur wonders on how to respond to this message. So, he finally decides to simply send out a message into space and hope whoever did this hears it.

<Message - UNKNOWN DESTINATION>
<The Corocians motive is simple; conquer the Igadzra, who are cruel, unjust, and a dictatorship. We are only at war with the UE because we helped the Voinians after they helped us, and so the UE commander Samurai lost his temper and irrationally attacked us. In respone, we have decided to fight back. It is now out fault the UE are at war with us, its is Samurai's.>

With the UE cargo safely stored in the Prism's cargo hold, Thunder touched down on the independant world of Iothe Prime. He was amazed at the Prism's handling and speed with the UE's upgrades; the arada handled almost as well as a crescent fighter and was probably a little bit faster.

Walking through the spaceport, Thunder found who he was looking for. A man in the outfitters shop who two merchants in the bar had said could sell him the piece of equipment he needed. Thunder walked up to the man and took up the matter.

"Hi. I'm looking for a scan blocker and I understand you can sell me one."

"Scan blocker, eh? You're not a renegade, are you? I could have the militia here in seconds!"

"Of course not!" Thunder replied, a bit shocked. "I'm a merchant pilot with important cargo that I can't let certain parties find out about..."

"Say no more." The man said. "Just wanted to make sure you were the kind of person I'd be willing to do buisness with. I can make the adjustments to your ship myself, but it'll cost you 15,000 credits."

"Deal." Thunder replied.

Within half an hour, the man had completed his work, and Thunder handed him a credstick for his efforts. He knew the people on Iothe would be able to sell him a scan blocker. They had to keep their cargo safe in renegade infested territory all the time; they were experienced with this kind of thing.

"Okay," the man began, "There's three settings to the scan blocker: off, passive, and active. Use passive to disguise your cargo or make it look like something it's not. The active setting will make your ship impenetrable to scanners, but it'll light your ship up like a beacon to customs agents and renegades. In fact, using a scan block on active setting is grounds for attack by renegades and UE customs. If you keep it set on passive, the only way anyone will be able to detect your scan block is if they directly target your ship with a deep level scan."

"Thanks for the advice." Thunder replied. With that, he set off toward the outfitters shop where he bought a second fuel scoop for his ship, which would be useful if he needed to use the cloak the UE had provided him with.

Returning to the Prism, Thunder set a course toward Miranu space, and ultimately toward Hrekka. Clearing the spaceport and leaving orbit, the Prism set off into hyperspace...

I don't think Titan ever even attacked you. He just sent a fleet someplace. And I don't know if you realized this, but assuming that he did attack, you retaliated with an equally undetailed attack. You say to be more detailed but your post destroys his fleet in a single sentence. Also, Titan never said he destroyed anything. You were really the one attacking not him.

Give them shell! give them solid shot! Damn them, give them anything!

Titan, I am independently helping the UE.

Continuation:
Carno returns to his desk to find a white slip of paper with a message on it.
"You don't have to broadcast your reply into space. Just write it on this paper. As for the war, would you agree to a ceise fire? The UE obviously owes you something for attacking you but your continued fighting waste your resources. Wouldn't you rather be attacking the Igadzra? PS. I cannot garantee that the UE will agree to this."

Daedalus, you seem to misunderstand. Titan attacked the Renegades, who are controlled by Entropy and to whom I have given a large portion of my special technology. So, Titans fleet would have gotten creamed by the Renegades.

----------------

Carnotaur then wrote the following on the slip of paper:

"I will only agree to a cease fire if the UE agrees to my terms and my terms only. They must also pay me at least 1.5 million credits in damage caused by them. Also, would you like to help us? We have a well paying job for you."

I'm sending in some renegade CW's and Laziras to help guard Hrekka.
I'm not surprised about the attack on the rock, but they are stupid: it is very well shielded and (after the tip) well guarded. The turbolaser is almost functional, the focusing arrays will be activated tomorrow and the turbolaser tested.
By the way, it can swivel, but the required energy limits to firing it once every other minute.
And no, I didn't accidentaly leave any scantily guarded passages to the reactor core; there are none, so you con't try a "Star Wars" on me.

Even though there would be no reason for Entropy to attack him Kiwi set up a programme to find defence against this new weapon.

Control brings corruption and ultimate control brings ultimate corruption or something along those lines.

<message to Entropy>

it would save me a lot of money if you would give me a defense against your machine, in case it fel into evil hands.

<end of message>

After rebuilding the defences against the Zidagar and Igadzra the Azdgari wipe out another base only one jump away from Zidagar, after taking control of Namot and building many more ships in a secret system in a place for a big move against the Zidagar and losing almost no ships on the frontiers because of strengthened ships and more of them.
The Azdgari lost only 5 AW's and 7 Azdaras when colonizing Namot and reenforcing the frontier.

My income is now 1.75 million stabilised.

Thunder watched as several Miranu fighters buzzed the Prism as he entered the Blaga system. The Miranu fighters payed him little notice, as he had a relatively good legal rating in Miranu space after having completed a cargo run for the Zacha. So far the UE cargo run was going well. Nobody had tried to scan his cargo. He had the scan blocker set to passive, programmed to make it look like the Prism was carrying 50 tons of equipment and medical supplies. Considering all the attacks between the Zacha and the Renegades, Thunder thought it would look quite natural for a ship to come in carrying medical supplies and equipment, since these things would obviously be needed in the area.

After stopping on Blaga for a quick refueling, Thunder and his crew took the Prism back into hyperspace again, setting their course toward the northwest. After they passed Zachit, they would be on their way to Hrekka, and the destination of their delivery. As the stars streaked by, Thunder pulled out his copy of the Merchant's Handbook (a publication of the MTC, of which almost every independent merchant had a copy. It was considered to be the ultimate guide for merchants of all kinds). He accessed the section on evading detection and attack. His scan blocker and cloak would give him a decisive advantage, but a little studying couldn't hurt...

The Zachit made no attacks on Hrekka after it was taken back, instead, a message came through immediately..

"I am Pikera Taichowa, Elder of the Miranu people, and I demand to know who you are and why you have helped such filthy scum, the North Tip Renegades!! I request a meeting in the system to the galactic west of the Zachit system, between you and me. I shall bring only my personal escort and my own ship, and you may do the same. Agreed?"

(Sorry, I'm at school and can't look up the name of that system. If Carno agrees, then Pikera's fleet, 6 Zachiras, and his personal ship, the S.S. Economic which is a modified Miranu Heavy Frieghter, will be waiting in that nameless system. And how would a spy survive 1 day in the heavily unified Zachit? The only person outside the Zachit that would have the vaguest idea of what is going to happen would be thunder!!)

--------------

A Zacha fighter swoops in low over the S.S. Prism and sends this message, encrypted..

*>/ Nice cargo, from the UE right? Heh, don't ask, we learned to simply look for scan blockers and penetrate them long ago. Anyway, the Zachit has another job for you..

Go to Blaga and pick up the cargo from Spaceport 27, you're going to need at least 50 tons of cargo space free. Take to Outpost Zachit immediately and use that new little toy of yours.. Complete this job and we'll have your Arada modified into a Zachit Arada.. the paint job is optional. Oh yes, and a nice little sum too!

Be seeing you! <*

With that, the fighter sweeps away....

Carnotaur writes the following on the paper:

"My spies and intellegence assets** have reported that the Zachit or UE have a hidden base somewhere in NT Renegade territory, and they are sending a merchant captain to drop off some supplies at the hidden base. I want you to track down this mercenary, capture him, then bring his ship and whoever he is to F-25, where we will interrogate him. Once you get him, try to find the hidden base. Then report back to me."

Carno you have no idea which system I sent my ships to so you couldnt destroy them. Titans fleet stops at Zachit station to refuel.

Message to Captain Carntaur: I will consider your request for a peace treaty. I'm going contact Samurai to ask him what he thinks of it. End of message

Message to Samurai: Captain Carntaur wants to have peace with the UE. I want you to tell me if you you will accept his request. End of message

Who says I destroyed it?

Here is what happened:

1-Titan sent UE fleet into NT Renegade territory to destroy Renegade ships
2-Since NT Renegades have superior Corocian technology, Titans UE fleet is destroyed or partially destroyed by Renegades

Thunder kept a close eye out for renegades or Corocians as he lifted off from the refueling depot on Munb in the Dewe system. A single renegade crescent fighter was near the edge of the system, but it paid the Prism no notice, too busy lining up for an attack run on a Zachit fighter that was just breaking orbit. Taking advantage of the distraction, Thunder entered the hyperspace coordinates for Niwom. From there it would only be one more jump to Hrekka. He knew he was lucky to get this far without interference. His scan blocker was still set on passive, making his cargo look like nothing more than medical supplies and equipment, and he knew the cloak was there if he needed it.

As his ship geared up for the jump, Thunder wondered what cargo the Zachit were going to have him pick up from Blaga after he finished the UE cargo run. Of course, he couldn't know, and all he could do was speculate, but that didn't stop him. Maybe a weapon, or a new piece of technology, or maybe just some chinese carryout... Whatever it was, Thunder figured he should return his attention to matters at hand. With his ship safely in hyperspace, Thunder headed down to the cargo hold, to make sure his shipment was still safe, and to pick up some stuff he had stored back there.

In the cargo hold, Thunder saw that his shipment was still safe and sound, inside the packaging the UE had loaded it in. Near the entrance to the cargo hold Thunder found the other thing he was looking for: a small cooler. Inside was a layer of ice cubes, in which could be seen several cans of "Root Beer", a popular beverage sold only in UE space. It was difficult to find in Miranu territory, and he and his friends had acquired a taste for it. Returning to the bridge, he tossed one can to his tactical officer and opened a second for himself. On his control panel he could see it would still be another couple hours before he arrived in Niwom...

And little did Thunder know that he was being watched, right as he sat there drinking his root beer.

Above him, in the ceiling, Captain Scorcher himself had placed a small nanoprobe sensor. It's goal was simple: send back sensor and audio information on what was happening inside the bridge. Carnotaur had suspected Thunder, and so he had sent Scorcher to watch him. Although Scorcher was now on Hrekka, the bug that he had left was still there, and invisible to sensors due to some fancy Corocian technology (none of which I have to time to explain right now).

Scorcher had hoped to put one of the cargo bay, but the one bug in the bridge of the ship was fine for now. As an extra precaution, if the bug was ever discovered (and it had a 99.9999999% chance it would not be discovered), it would immediately self destruct.

So, the bug just sat there, imbedded in the cieling, watching Thunder. Since it also acted as a tracking becon, Scorcher and Carnotaur would know went it entered the Hrekka system, and where it went from there...

Carno, can you just leave the whole thing alone. It is not essential to the story. It is probably best not to argue about it.
----------------
Carno looks at his paper once again. It said: "I am on it. I bet that cargo is important."
When Carno next looked the paper was gone.
--------------
Using his connections with the UE and his biocomputer, Daedalus easily caught up with the Prism. He hailed the ship and said that he was an escort and wished to dock. The Prism granted permission and Daedalus soon was in a meeting with Thunder.
"Thunder, I have told the Corocians that I will capture you and bring your cargo to a secret base of theirs. I intend to do just that but without you and without the Cargo. In two hours another Arada will join us. You must unload your crew cargo and upgrades to this new Arada. A false cargo will but placed in the Prism with a crew of Androids and myself. I know that your anti scan cannot be transferred but I have a use for it anyway. You will be doing the UE a great favor if you agree to go along with this."
Thunder replies...

Thunder, forgive me for controlling your character. If you want me to, I will revoke this post.
