Ferazel's Wand won't work on OS X

I am going to do my best to figure out some kind of solution for Ferazel on 10.3 (or 10.4). Once I get that done I'm thinking about working on a new platform game project. Still 2D gameplay, but using 3D hardware acceleration. It'll be set up to be really easy to edit, and it will be able to import Ferazel levels. Wouldn't that be cool? Then any level that people might have made for Ferazel could be transferred to the new game engine and gussied up with crazy new features. What do you think?

I happen to think there is still a lot of life left in the Ferazel-style side scroller genre, but it's not being explored enough. There are so many cool possibilities that haven't been tried. I hope there are still some people out there who appreciate this style even while the rest of the world is brainwashing you to play Grand Theft Auto and suchlike.

YES!

Man. I've been wanting more 2D platform games for ages...

On a sidenote, how often does Ben check here, anyway?
Looking at the boards last night, I saw 'seepS neB' in the 'also browsing the forum' bit a good amount.

You mean they're trying to brainwash us. Side-scrollers are the best! 🙂

Thanks Ben for what you're doing!

I have stopped working on (url="http://"http://xr.ferazel.net")XR(/url) because I have one OS 9 computer which is almost always in use by my brother and I do not have Classic on any of the OS X computers we have, and I am not allowed to put it on.

Another side-scroller game would be totally awesome, especially if it could import FW levels!

Wow...I'd completely given up on the prospect of Ferazel in OS X. Goes into shock

And a 3D importable side-scroller... even better...the genre is so great and yet no games are made for it anymore :frown:

The time has come for you to get a real account on these boards...

If you knew the history, you'd know why that probably won't happen...

My only gripe with OS X is that it makes some of the best games ever made unplayable. An OS X Ferazel would just about beat all.

Wouldn't it be uncannily difficult to move Ferazel's Wand Levels over to a new game? I mean if the new game had to be reliant on a past game type, would that cause lots of problems? Don't know much about nothing, just thinking of my experiences with importing anything. The notion of 3D 2D reminds me of Super Smash Brothers for Game Cube, I would be positively elated to see Ferazel in beautiful 3D.

Also, thought I'd mention that the website for Ben's band, (url="http://"http://www.electricdoormat.com/")Electric Doormat(/url), has been updated some with new songs and a forum.

For the first time in my life, I suggest looking on the bright side. If we get it, hooray. If we don't, we are no worse off than before. The board will continue its steady decline in traffic unaffected by Ben's gracious presence.

Follow my logic here:
1. 'Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.'
2. 'Ignorance is bliss.'
3. 'Those who ignore history are happy.'

Ok..first of all..who was that mysterious masked seepS neB??? Secondly of all..I KNEW you'd write a new game!! I KNEW it!! Ha!! I was soo right!!! I'm getting out my dancing shoes. And Ferazel will not be the neglected step-child.

Yeah yeah..this is about a week late in response. Hey..I'm not a moderator anymore. I only read the boards about once every ten days.

Oops, I didn't read this forum before I read the other FW forum. Like I said in my other post, I would be all for Ferazel's Wand for OS X. Yes, like I said, I would pay for it, and yes, more for Ben than the software itself. I'm sure it's the same way for most of us fans, and we would probably all be happy to send $5 or so to Mr. Spees. Of course, I already did so a while ago, but with $20...
